Ingredients for Kachalu Recipe

Boiled potatoes – 4 to 5

Curd (yogurt) – 1 cup

Cold milk – ¼ cup

Salt – as per taste

For Tempering (Tadka):

Mustard seeds (yellow)

Whole red chilies

Curry leaves

Oil

How to Make Kachalu at Home

Cut the boiled potatoes into small pieces.

Add curd to the potatoes. To prevent the dish from turning sour quickly, mix in a little cold milk (about ¼ cup).

Add salt as per taste and mix well.

Now prepare the tadka (tempering): Heat a ladle or small pan, pour oil, and once hot, add mustard seeds.

Add whole red chilies and curry leaves. Make sure the mustard seeds don’t burn, or the flavor may turn bitter.

Pour this sizzling tadka over the potato-curd mixture and cover for about 30 seconds.

Open the lid, mix well, and your spicy & tangy Kachalu is ready!
