India is gearing up for a major tax reform as the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates will come into effect from September 22. This change is expected to bring a significant reduction in the prices of various home appliances and electronic items.

Key Highlights of the New GST Rates
Products previously taxed at 28% GST will now attract only 18% GST.
Items that were under the 18% GST slab will be shifted down to just 5% GST.
Essential food items will continue to enjoy either 0% or 5% GST, ensuring further relief to consumers.
Impact on Prices of Home Appliances
Let’s understand with an example:
A television with a base price of ₹10,000, which earlier cost ₹12,800 (with 28% GST), will now be available for ₹11,800 (with 18% GST).

Air Conditioners will also become cheaper:
1-ton AC – around ₹3,000 less
1.5-ton AC – around ₹4,000 less
2-ton AC – around ₹5,000 less

Additionally, washing machines, refrigerators, monitors, and projectors will now fall under the 18% GST slab, leading to substantial savings for households.
A Festival Gift for Consumers
With this GST reform coming just ahead of the festive season, families can look forward to buying appliances at much lower prices. The reduction will not only ease the burden on middle-class households but also encourage more spending, giving a boost to the economy.
As the change takes effect on September 22, it truly marks a day of relief and prosperity for Indian consumers with real happy durga puja.
